A daily dose of inspiration

Today, I would like to share some lovely words that a new friend passed along.
Thank you, Indy!!

I have been given this day to use as I will. I can waste it or use it for good.
What I do today is important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it.

I will learn something new today–and not worry about all the things I still need to learn.

Hello Home Goods

I finally got my butt over to Home Goods today... and I think I'm in love.
The moment I walked through the door, this wall of bins caught my eye.
And before I knew it, my cart was already full.

Anyone else love this store?  I think it may become my new obsession.

p.s. I've been testing out Instagram on my iphone.  Another new addiction!!

Those Darn Dollar Bins

I was shopping at Michael's the other day and got some neat stuff for crafting projects. By the time I got to the registers to check out, there was a pretty long line.  And guess what was lined up right in front of us as we stood waiting to check out.... Those dollar bins full of random little gifts.

As the line inched forward, I noticed that we were all looking at those bins.  I wasn't interested in ANY of that stuff when I was shopping the rest of the store, but once I was forced to stand in front of them and wait, all those nick nacks started to look cute.  I caught myself sifting through the monogrammed notepads, silly pens, and charm bracelets when I truly did not need any of it!

They were so tempting and I know that I am not alone! My client and I were talking about those bins today, commiserating on our lack of self control around them.  Ugh!  Why do we all of a sudden need cute gardening gloves just because they are $1?!  We don't!  It's just CLUTTER!

Next time, I am going to bring a book to read in line to keep me distracted.  Do you have any tips to keep me away from those bins?

Confession

I am baby-crazy.

Any of my friends will tell you this is true.  I just light up when a baby is around.

And I LOVE to help parents get their nurseries set up and organized.
There is so much joy and anticipation when a baby is coming.  But there can also be some stress and anxiety that the house is just not ready for this new addition.  So, any help that I can give parents before their little one joins the family is such a pleasure for me.

I recently came across Project Nursery, which is a great resource for getting your baby's room set up.  Their photos are so inspiring and I don't know about you, but I am giddy just looking at them.

Not only are the toys so sweetly displayed in the room, but they are also very organized!  Smaller bins on shelves make it easy to grab a few things to play with and make clean-up a breeze.  And how cool is that argyle pattern on the walls?!

I may have to call up a friend with a baby to see if I can babysit.  Any takers??

elfa Sale!!!

This is the first year in five years that I have not been designing closets at
The Container Store for their HUGE sale.

The Container Store

A part of me is having "elfa withdrawal," but at least I still get emails from the store
with photos of all the amazing organized solutions.

Have you ever tried elfa in your home?
They call it the "Potato Chip Product": Once you try it, you keep buying more!

Do a little dance

This is completely random, but I had to share it with everyone!
I LOVE how these "normal" people can move- it always make me smile.

So, do you have a Happy Dance?  What makes you want to boogie down?

Confession

I do not make New Year's Resolutions.

I guess I have found that it just sets me up for failure,
and I don't want to start out a new year beating myself up.

But I do love how the new year represents a new beginning... a fresh start...
and a Clean Slate!

For 2012, I am simply going to do my best to be positive, loving, hard working, introspective, patient, and grateful.  And I am going to give myself a break once in a while from trying to be "perfectly organized."  I hope that you will do the same.
