Turn it up!

Yesterday I spent a good chunk of my morning working on my files.  I had obviously put it off for a while since I found articles and bills from around January and February that I hadn't filed yet!  Eek!  It's a good thing I have that "To Be Filed" letter tray, but it was getting way too packed.  

Since I knew this task may not be the most enjoyable thing to do, I decided to turn on some fun music to keep me motivated.  It worked!  Before long I was dancing around my little office space and the filing was all done.  yay!

Files: Complete!

My new filing system is complete... and I just want to stare at it all the time!  

I used these hanging files from Pendaflex (above).  

The "extra capacity" files come with box bottoms to create more space for stuffed files. 

And then came the labels!  I was a bit daunted by the task of figuring out what categories I needed, but it really wasn't that bad.  I downloaded the template off of the Pendaflex website and sat down in front of my new file drawer with my laptop.  

And here they are!  This row is for my personal files and I know that over time the categories may change.  But for now, I am very pleased!  And my desktop is clear again... aahhhhh.

Perfect timing before a lovely holiday weekend.

My Filing Project

As you saw yesterday, I started a big filing project in my home office this weekend.  

It was LONG overdue... but I finally got the motivation to make it happen.

The first thing I did was get myself a new space for my files.

This storage bench from Ikea is actually in the kids' section, but works perfectly for files.  

I just added file frames (like these) and viola!  A cute bench becomes a functional office item.  

The next step was to add the files... now, this may seem like a simple task but there are so many different file folders out there.  But the ones from Pendaflex have become my favorite.  

They are so durable and even come in "extra capacity" sizes, perfect for those of us who stuff our files to the max!  I bought mine in blue and green, to match my business colors.  They also just make me feel serene and happy when I open the drawer.  

Seriously, who can say that they feel that way when they are filing?!

Product of the Week: The Multi-Purpose Bin

This clear bin is just simply amazing.  It comes in 3 widths and is so perfect for corralling anything loose in your home.  Plus, it has handles on the sides for easier mobility.  

I use the large size for cleaning products (I actually needed 2 for all my spray bottles and sponges).  The medium size is great for file folders or office supplies... we also use this size in our deep freezer drawer.  The small size is quite narrow and perfect for storing magazines or journals; maybe even craft paper.  

The best part about these bins is that they are so inexpensive!  You can't go wrong with $2.99- $4.99 at The Container Store.  Wowie Zowie!
